15 Spring Cleaning Hacks You Can Do in Less than 10 Minutes Each

We all know people that make keeping house and home a sanctuary and make cleaning practically a second job. But for the rest of us, we need hacks and we need them quick. We’ve got things to do. Here are 15 hacks that you can do quickly that make a huge difference.

1. Dusting 1, 2, 3- Fancy electrostatic sheets can be expensive. Use a dryer sheet instead! Work top to bottom so you don’t have to go over surfaces twice.

2. Expirations- Clear some room in your cabinet spaces by checking expirations on medications and spices.

3. Shower Head- Attach a baggie full of vinegar with a rubber band and soak overnight.

4. Dishwasher- Use this for more than just dishes! Deep clean things like plastic lens cases, makeup brushes, plastic shelving, toys, etc!

5. Water Marks- When someone doesn’t use a coaster (for shame!) use a hairdryer on high heat to blast those rings away. Give it a little love at the end by rubbing some olive oil into the wood.

6. Microwave- Remove old food stains in a jiffy by nuking a mixture of water, white vintage, and lemon for five minutes. Wipe away grime with a sponge after.

7. Stovetop- Wax on, wax off. After you have cleaned your stovetop, put a little car wax on it. We promise spills will now be easy breezy to clean off of.

8. Faucets- We don’t have to tell you that hard water stains are well hard to remove. Cut a lemon in half and rub all over your faucets and these stains are now a thing of the past.

9. Garbage Disposal- It’s easy to forget about what you send down the disposal. But give this appliance the tlc it finally deserves. Add lemon slices, sprinkle of salt, and a few ice cubes to clear away any smells or junk in the trunk.

10. Sponges- You can’t really clean with a dirty sponge. Nuke it for one minute to freshen it up.

11. Lazy Susan- If you are tight for space (and who isn’t) add a lazy susan to make finding things easy. This can be used in fridges, kitchen cabinets, bathrooms, offices, basically wherever you need a little extra space.

12. Stainless Steel Appliances- Use a rag (not paper towel) and rub a little baby oil to make your appliances shine as good as new.

13. Baking Soda- We all know baking soda is helpful for soaking up odors in the fridge, but did you know it can be sprinkled or placed anywhere you have a lingering smell? IE shoes, drawers, bathrooms etc.

14. Cutting Boards- While we try not to think about what germs could be lingering on these (yikes) a great cleaning hack is taking some coarse salt and rubbing a lemon into the knife grooves.

15. Carpet Stains- Did you know toothpaste can help get rid of carpet stains? It’s true. While we aren’t sure how exactly someone discovered that, just rub a little bit on there to help budge those pesky stains that have been there since your last oops.

We hope these are helpful in sprucing up your Sparta NJ space this Spring! If clutter is the problem, as always, see us for that.
