• Insure house numbers are visible from the street to assist police, fire and rescue in finding your house quickly.
• Keep brushes, shrubs, and trees trimmed to insure an unobstructed view of sidewalks, driveways, doors, windows and gates where a person could hide.
• Valuables such as bicycles, lawnmowers, or recreational vehicles should not be left in the yard to attract the attention of a criminal.
• Do not leave a spare key where a criminal can find it easily: under the door mat, over the door frame, or on top of a light fixture are all common places someone will look.
• Do not leave any items around the outside of the house that could be used to gain entry to your home or property such as ladders, buckets, or step stools. These items could also allow someone to look into your windows as well.
