Dear Moms,

Does walking into a cluttered room in your home make your shoulders tense and your eyes start to twitch? Does that drawer (or closet, or garage) of miscellaneous stuff drive you crazy? This May, in honor of Mother’s Day, we’ve decided to compile a list of tips to change all that. We want to bring some Zen back into your life, and since we can’t control what mischief your kids get into at school or what the dog decides to chew, we can at least offer you some helpful hints to declutter your living space.

1. Clear out the winter clothes: Bag or box up all of the bulky winter gear that is sucking up space in your closets and bring it to us. We’ll keep it stored for you until you’re ready for it next winter.

2. Stash the skis: Maybe you tried out a new winter sport this year, like downhill skiing or ice skating. Or maybe your family finally bought those snow mobiles you’ve been wanting forever.  Unfortunately, these fun seasonal sports require a lot of equipment: skis, boots, poles, helmets, transportation racks or trailers, none of which you’ll need access to for at least another 6 months. Why not bring them over to us and let us keep them safe and secure for you? That way you’ll have room in the garage for parking the cars again, or at least free up some room to bring out the coolers and grill for the fabulous backyard barbeque season ahead!

3. Give everything a home, and make sure the family knows about all of them: Designating spaces for toys, books, camera cords, extra hangers, etc. will make it that much easier to straighten things up. Plus, it allows you to take stock of what you have and allow you to organize your seasonal items. Remember, if you’re not using it for the summer, bring it to us and we’ll keep it out of your hair until you want it again.

We love you moms, and we want to make sure that this May is the most stress free month ever.  We promise to pick up after ourselves when we’re at home.
